In a group project myself and Ian O'saben are doing a video narrative on how to properly setup a hookah. We are trying to create a new common place for "How To's" especially giving better quality within a video and also what is being digested by the audience. After figuring out our subject it was time to break down the processes we need to visually show and that also can fit within our 5 min. time restriction. The time restriction is according to the average amount of time a user will actually watch. So we brainstormed on topics we could portray and what we decided was that we would show the basics to setting up a hookah or Water-pipe. Then I listed out steps and continued on to doing a storyboard. I personally believe that when you do a storyboard even if preliminary boarding you should think about space, shots, detail, focus, etc. the basics. So while I storyboarded I was thinking on cropping and how that effects the viewer and how I can create confidence within the viewer if they were going to follow our instructions.
As the storyboard shows we intend to implement the use of triptic framing which we believe will add to the experience. In addition we believe it can help the scenes that inquire for more concentration or knowledge. So we believe it can help smoothen out the tasks we believe having multiple views will add to the understanding and will answer any questions that may have been conjured if it wasn't shot in such a way. Here is an example of what we were thinking.
